Most people who work on market infrastructure spend their careers on one component of someone else’s system, several layers away from the institution using it. Here the person who writes the matching engine sits near the person who traded on one for twenty years, and both of them are in the room when a bank explains what is actually wrong with its settlement flow.

Agentic systems, real-time tokenisation and sub-millisecond data are among the most interesting problems in software right now. Here they are pointed at something concrete: a trade that has to settle, for an institution that will tell you plainly if it did not.

Where the work is

Built in London. Used across three sessions.

Interbank markets do not stop, and neither do the conversations that shape them. The venue is built in London; the institutions, central banks, custodians and venues it connects to are not, which means the work regularly happens in their rooms rather than ours. Onboarding an institution, presenting to a central bank’s market infrastructure team, sitting with a desk through its first week on the platform: none of that is done over email. As the venue expands into new currencies and jurisdictions, the people who built each part are the ones who go and explain it.
